The Mottram Bypass is Finally Approved (2014).

Mottram will finally, after almost FIFTY years get its bypass!

On 2 December 2014, the government announced that it will be investing £170m on the A57, A628 and A628 trans-Pennine route, including a long-awaited bypass for the village of Mottram-in-Longdendale that residents have been campaigning for, for decades.

We even had Nick Clegg walking about Mottram a few days ago. Didn’t notice? Us neither. But every little helps.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, has just [December 2014] given the go-ahead for an initial scheme of at least £170 million to resolve the traffic issue through Mottram and to build a link road to Glossop.… Click here to continue reading this article

Mottram Bypass: Jonathan Reynolds Letter To Constituents.

Anyone familiar with the Mottram Bypass issue knows locals have been trying to get a bypass built around the villages of Mottram-in-Longdendale and Tintwistle for over thirty years.

Tameside Council keeps collecting Council Tax, smiling and doing nothing. They are only interested in collecting parking fines that destroy the once thriving market and shopping areas of nearby Hyde, Stalybridge and Ashton town centres.

They also – unhelpfully – allowed Tesco to build a huge superstore directly adjacent to the site of one of Tameside’s worst traffic nightmares (M67/Mottram Moor).

Although Tesco’s is useful to locals (and particularly useful to the professional shoplifters of the neighbouring Hattersley sink estate), it has done nothing to ease the local traffic congestion.… Click here to continue reading this article

Could the Mottram Bypass Be Replaced By Shared Space Similar to Poynton?

Anyone who knows Mottram knows about the traffic problems and the lack of funding for the Mottram Bypass.
