E-mail scams are nothing new, but as long as people continue to document them across the internet, it will save the odd person from having their bank accounts emptied by Nigerian miscreants. The text from this one is the usual recycled rubbish, but the e-mail address and some other detail has not been documented by Google at the time of writing. The text is as below:

I AM BARRISTER WONG LEE , ATTORNEY AT LAW.  My deceased client shares the same last

name as yours,  who died as the result of a heart-related condition in March 12th 2005. His heart

condition was due to the death of all the members of his family in the tsunami disaster on the

I have contacted you to assist in distributing the money left behind by my client before it is

confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank where this deposit  valued at Eighteen Million

dollars( US$18,000.000.00 million dollars) is lodged. This bank has issued me a notice to contact

the next of kin, or the account will be confiscated.


My proposition to you is to seek your consent to present you as the next-of-kin and beneficiary of

my named client, since you have the same last name, so that the proceeds of this account can be

paid to you.  Then we can share the amount on a mutually agreed-upon percentage. All legal

documents to back up your claim as my client’s next-of-kin will be provided. All I require is your

honest cooperation to enable us see this transaction through.


This will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from many breach of the

    I come to this blog by searching the Term “BARRISTER WONG LEE” with google after i get the same mail today. All my warning bells are ringing loudly after reading so the first way was google.

    My text is the same as yours so be warned out there or there must have a million people died with our last names. 😉

    I hate this scum!

    This jerk calling himself Wong Lee has a Linked In account and he contacted me via Linked In.
    I messaged him using the apporpriate abscenities.
    I think all this scum should be treated in the same way.

    I seem to receive this type of email on a daily basis. The latest seems to be someone wanting to hire you as a cleaner. My guess is that he wants to pay you in advance, but only through paypal. Aren’t these scams getting so old that there isn’t a person on the planet that isn’t scammed by them?
