It was pretty much a given he would remain PM, but the expectation was that he would be propped up by Lib Dem, UKIP and/or the DUP in another coalition of some kind.

But the prospect of Labour propped up by the Scottish Nationals scared voters that the UK would be run with a Socialist/Leftist Scotland-centric coalition that would be hard to break; one of whom wanted to break up the UK (Sturgeon).

EU Ambassadors at a closed meeting with the head of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Alexei Pushkov offered to discuss the lifting of sanctions the EU to Russian politicians and businessmen. How to tell the “News” in the State Duma, the meeting will be held at the initiative of the European diplomats, that is a good signal for the resumption of dialogue and cooperation.

NATO is using Ukraine crisis to advance towards Russian borders

NATO is using the situation in Ukraine to push closer to Russia’s border, according to the Russian deputy defense minister. He says the Alliance’s activities have expanded considerably over the past years.

In their push, Anatoly Antonov says Allied forces are ignoring diplomacy.

“We’ve noticed that NATO member states are using the situation in southeastern Ukraine as a pretext to discard all diplomatic conventions, tricks and slogans and push forward, closer to the Russian border.”

The Cabinet of Ukraine plans to nationalize bank deposits of Ukrainians

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine intends to take a decision allowing wartime involvement in the country’s budget, bank deposits of citizens of more than 200 thousand. UAH ($8000 US).

It is reported by Ukrainian edition ZN.UA citing its own sources.

The Ministry of Finance has prepared a draft law “On the financial system of Ukraine in the special period”, one of the points which concerns bank deposits of citizens and organizations.

Russia blocks alcohol imports from Ukraine

Russia suspends alcohol imports from Ukraine – consumer rights watchdog

Russia has decided to suspend alcohol imports from Ukraine on August 15. On Wednesday the consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said there had been a number of breaches in consumer legislation.

The restrictions apply to beer produced by Obolon and SUN Inbev Ukraine, and alcohol from the Ukrainian Distribution Company.

“When scrutinizing imports of vodka, beer and other beverages from Ukraine a number of breaches in consumer protection legislation were discovered,” the watchdog’s statement said.

Rospotrebnadzor said Ukrainian beer doesn’t meet the nutritional value written on the bottles, and its branding broke the rules as it doesn’t have the right alcohol content.… Click here to continue reading this article

Why would Ukraine purposely shoot down flight MH17?

The story goes – and I am only repeating the theories I have read here – that a large number of Ukrainian forces were hemmed in near the Russian border and faring very badly and something drastic needed to happen before they were toast.

Ukraine is low on manpower and has resorted to conscription again; they don’t have much juice left.

This was a manoeuvre to try to drag in the international community to do the job in the east for them.
